US 51 Route accident
The fatal collision between a truck and a car occurred on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. A 16-year-old male Assumption teen died instantly. Three other Assumption teens sustained serious injuries in the crash. One was a 15 year old teen from Town hill. The rest were 14.
The stop sign at US 51 in Leafland Street near Assumption was where the four teenagers riding Kia Optima stopped them. The car drove into the intersection and was hit by a truck. The victims were identified by police as Central a, and M High School.
What caused the incident?
According to police reports, a 46-year old male traveling Southbound with his straight truck, T800 from Decatur stopped at the US51 sign. The truck suddenly struck the car as it crossed.
The victims were immediately protected by the Illinois State Police. The driver, a 16-year-old male, was initially airlifted to a nearby hospital, but it was unsuccessful. The two other victims, 15-year-old male from Town hill and fourteen years old from Assumption were also airlifted to a local hospital. They died from their injuries. The fourth, a 14-year-old Assumption native, was taken to hospital by ambulance. The Central High School Accident is regretted by the Assumption community.
The Central A and M school principal has posted the four Central A and M students who were killed in Tuesday’s fatal accident on US 51. The school was opened on Tuesday, at 9:30 AM.
Gregory Intermediate School principal and Central A and M school principal stated that they had gathered together as a school and community waiting for a response. Their students have been going in and out of school in the morning and evening. They have ministers and counsellors. The community is strong against its raiders. Many people gathered to pray for the students and their families.

The food provided to the masses was supplied by Crawford’s, Moweaqua Foods and Casey’s. They are grateful to have been born in this community. Meridian High School posted on Facebook that they are sorry for the loss of four Central AM schools. They will be open from 4-6 p.m. to students. They promised their presence for them.
