Henderson’s car collided with a pickup truck being driven by an off-duty deputy along the U.S. Route 13 highway. Monday’s car accident resulted in the death of a student and an athlete from Livingstone College’s men’s basketball team. It happened at the 4700 block of Goldsboro Road just before 6 p.m. According to the Highway Patrol, Eric Henderson from Virginia was driving the vehicle that collided with the deputy’s car at the center line. According to state troopers Henderson wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. At the scene, he was declared dead.
